Connecting with God | Shelita Williams

Shelita Williams is the author of How to Reign in Life.

Shelita, how do you find time to connect with God?

In the mornings is my personal prayer and confession time. I speak with God all throughout the day! God is in us and with us wherever we are and I treat Him as such. I spend a lot of time in my car so I pray and talk to God often while I’m driving. I make audio versions of my confessions and listen to them while driving.

When you lead a very busy life, sometimes it can be quite difficult to spend that quality time with God. I have learned the hard way that no matter what is going on in my life, I can’t have success in any area of my life without Him. Therefore my time with Him is a priority!

A Fresh Perspective on Genesis

I posted last week about looking for a reading plan. I found one that I’ve been enjoying. The chronological listing is what attracted me to the plan.  In the first few days, the plan takes you through readings in Genesis and 1 Chronicles. Normally, I would skim over these genealogy listings, but I’m really taking my time to read and connect them. Here is a description of the reading plan:

“The One Year Chronological Bible reading plan contains the entire text of the bible arranged in the order the events actually occurred. This unique viewpoint allows you to read the whole Bible as a single story and to see the unfolding of God’s plan in history.”

You can download the one above or the One Year Bible plan  at:

image By the way, if you want a really fresh and different reading experience, I want to encourage you to check out Havah: The Story of Eve by Tosca Lee. I will posting a full review soon, but I really like how Tosca ties in her fictional account of Eve to scripture. By far this novel is going to be one of my top reads for 2009. Read an excerpt at Christian Bookworm Reviews.

Since I’m currently reading the book of Genesis and Havah, I decided I’m going to post some of my women in the bible studies. Be on the lookout for Eve, The First Woman this coming Sunday.

New Beginnings

From time to time, I like to read my older journals and writings. I had several devotions and bible studies online before I switched over to this new blog format. My goal last summer was to re-publish them, but I got off track. That’s not hard for me to do. LOL!

Earlier today, I talked to a dear friend and mentor. She brought up my blog.  I want to thank her for reminding me, I really need to get back to writing. Now with the new year in swing, there are some writing projects “speaking” to me that I must pursue. I plan to post a devotion or a bible study from my “classic” collection each Sunday. This devotion was originally written in 2000, but has been modified a  bit. Enjoy!
