Connecting with God | Tabitha Vinson

tabitha-vinson Tabitha, how do you find time to connect with God?

It varies. Because the enemy takes the time out to study an individual, I like to complicate things so that when I’m praying or worshiping God it’s during a time when the demonic realm least expects it. I know my answer sounds a bit odd, but it’s the truth. There are techniques that God can teach a person that will permit you to spend time with him.

Romans 8

Recently, I’ve been studying Roman 8. There are moments in my life and I’m sure in yours where you know the flesh has more control than the Spirit. That usually is our fault because we’ve placed something first instead of God.  To my delight, I came across the Romans 8 Movement and a couple of other goodies.

I came across this movement today when I decided to check out LifeChurch.tv. LifeChurch.tv have some of the best online, interactive sermon series. The current series is called Practical Athiest and the message really hit home.  While perusing the scriptures in today’s sermon, I was led to YouVersion.com. YouVersion.com is an awesome bible study resource that provides a journal and a chance to interact with other believers. While reading Romans 8, I found the Romans 8 Movement in the Community section.

The folks behind the Romans 8 Movement wants to get as many people as possible to memorize the entire chapter of Romans 8.  Since this has been my focus the past few weeks, I printed the flash cards and downloaded the music to go along with the scripture.

Zondervan Acquires BibleGateway.com

I’ve used BibleGateway.com for years and it remains my favorite online bible search tool. Recently, I read where Gospel Communications were having some issues, which would leave this site and my other favorite site Think Christian looking for new online homes. Today, in Publisher’s Weekly Religion Bookline it mentions:

Zondervan has acquired BibleGateway.com, an online tool for reading and researching scripture, from Gospel Communications, a non-profit Christian organization aimed at spreading the Gospel through film, internet and other media. Originally launched in 1993, the site allows users to search, find and compare particular scripture passages based on keywords, phrases or scripture reference in more than 50 languages and 81 different translations. In the coming months, Zondervan intends to build out the current features of the site and add a selection of reference materials and other Bible study resources based on its proprietary content and author resources, as well as working in partnership with other content providers.

I’m looking forward to the changes. Read more news and be sure to subscribe to Publishers Weekly Religion BookLine.

Connecting with God | Christy Barritt

newer pub pix-r55 Christy, how do you find time to connect with God?

The book, Practicing the Presence of God, really changed my view of talking to God. Before that book, I tried to put in my fifteen minutes of Bible reading and prayer every day. If I did that, I felt like I was a good Christian and I’d done my duty. But that book reminded me that talking to God was something that should be done all the time. God is always with us. Why not be in constant conversation with him? So now, all throughout my day, I’m constantly lifting up prayers and communicating with God. Also, music plays a huge role in my life. I’m the worship leader at my church and when I’m having a bad day, without fail, a song will pop into my head that truly ministers to me.

Falsani says, “Grace makes no sense to our human minds. We’re hardwired to seek justice, or our limited idea of what that means, and occasionally dole out mercy. Grace is another story.” Sin Boldly is an uplifting, multifaceted, and thought-provoking look at what makes grace so amazing.
