Connecting with God | Melanie Wells

mwells-140-Wellsauthor Melanie Wells’ latest book release is My Soul to Keep.

Melanie, how do you find time to connect with God?

Unfortunately, I’m a little bit like my main character, Dylan Foster, when it comes to connecting with God.  Truth be told, I sometimes relegate God to the status of Emergency Road Service. Call the 800 number printed in the trunk when you’ve got a flat or have run out of gas in a dangerous urban area. I’m working on it, though. Time is never going to be abundantly available to me. So for me, it’s a matter of focus.

Connecting with God | Amy Wallace

Amy1sm Amy Wallace’s latest release is called, Healing Promises. Healing Promises is a high-voltage romantic suspense novel which explores how a life-threatening medical diagnosis and the search for an elusive serial kidnapper affects even the most solid, loving Christian marriage and poses a key life question: Can God be trusted?

Amy, how do you find time to connect with God?

I force myself to open my eyes when the alarm goes off and then I sling my feet over the side of the bed to sit up. There I wait until I’m actually coherent. I figure if I’m going to read my Bible, I really should be awake. ;-) All of my family members are morning people, but they know not to get me until I’ve had time to wake up and talk to God. We’re all much happier when I spend time digging into God’s word and really connecting with Him in the morning.

I also try to get away by myself some, either at the beach or by a mountain stream just to recharge and hear the roar of the water and God’s wave-breaking yet still-water whispered voice.

A Handbook for Discovering God’s Will

It’a April 15th, but this has nothing to do with taxes! It is time for the Non~FIRST blog tour! Every 15th, we will featuring an author and his/her latest non~fiction book’s FIRST chapter!

God's Will The feature author is: Gordon S. Jackson and his book: A Handbook for Discovering God’s Will (NavPress Publishing Group – March 26, 2008)

Quick Review From Ty:

I started reading this book on Sunday and so far I can see how it can serve as pretty good reference book especially for a new believer or a Christian transitioning from one area of life to the next.

Of course, you can’t place God in some box so you can figure out the plans for your life all in 60 seconds, but the book does offer sound advice. For example, anyone could use the BIG FIVE for any decision-making process, no matter how small or large.

1. Scriptural guidelines
2. Prayer
3. The advice of other Christians
4. The circumstances we face
5. A sense of inner peace about our decision

This book is topical, so it’s not necessary to read through the entire book to find an answer to your burning question (s). The topics are very thoughtful and this reader can see how the author took care in organizing the questions which were gathered over a period of many years via interaction with students.

Prayer Room for Women’s Retreat

I had the opportunity to coordinate a women’s retreat for the first time. It was exhausting and exciting. Being up in the mountains of Asheville, NC made it all the more special. God showed up and blessed even more than I could imagine.
