A Worthy Project
I love this project! Nothing finer than a man in a suit. LOL! Pass this along to the men of color in your lives.
From the Desk of Alex Ellis
Dear Brothers,
This is a call to my brothers. I have been sensing an urgency as it pertains to the state of our young men. Often times in our own quest to achieve “success” in life we can easily find ourselves so enamored in our own ambitions that we lose touch with those struggling around us. I am deeply concerned about the plight of our young brothers. Their image, among other things, is suffering. They are in dire need of another image to be modeled. It is not the responsibility of the government to have to pass laws about sagging pants to bring home the message of the power of ones image. It is our responsibility to ban together as fathers, grandfathers, uncles, big brothers, elders, and mentors to raise the bar and set a new standard.
How to Adjust Your Priorities # 3
LET’S GET REAL DURING PRAYER TIME!
Have you ever prayed about a situation and felt like you weren’t getting through to God? Have you had a difficult time with consistency in your prayer life? This week as we continue to adjust our priorities, be encouraged and let’s rethink or restart our prayer life together. If you are contemplating a life changing decision or just how to make it through another day, it’s time to get real with our prayers.
Prayer is a conversation with God, not a one-sided affair where you call out your wish list items. We are going to take a look at the personal prayers of one powerful prayer warrior. Even though King David was a man after God’s own heart, he went through some slippery times before he received the kingship. How did he manage to adjust his priorities while on the run for his life?
Connecting with God | Dwan Abrams
Dwan Abrams is a full-time novelist, editor and publisher.
Dwan, how do you find time to connect with God?
My relationship with God is very important to me. I start my day with reading the Word and praying. Even though I have a lot going on throughout the day, I try to find a few minutes where I can have complete quiet for prayer and meditation. It’s not always easy to do at home, but that’s all right. When I’m in the car alone, I drive in silence and pray. And in the evening, I pray before going to bed.

How to Adjust Your Priorities # 2
PLANT YOUR FEET ON SOLID GROUND
I hope you have reached the point where you have decided it’s time for a serious change. A change in priorities. The most logical way to start anew is to revisit the two basic ways to achieve spiritual growth. You can probably name them easier than you actually spend time doing them consistently. Be honest. One involves spending quality time studying God’s Word, and the other, spending time in prayer. Both of these steps will prove to be essential to adjusting one’s priorities. This week, we will explore how developing a passion for God’s Word, makes it easier to recognize for us to redirect our focus.
Connecting with God | T.N. Williams
T.N. Williams debut novel, Something on the Inside, was released December 2007 from Urban Christian.
T.N. , how do you find time to connect with God?
I try to connect with God on a daily basis. I ask him for guidance everyday, whether I am in bed, on the way to work or sitting at my computer. I ask him to teach me as I am a willing vessel and to cover me and my family cause the enemy don’t like my mission. I struggle with the balancing act of life, but even when I can’t pick up my bible I find time to have a conversation with God.
