Connecting with God | Siri Mitchell

Siri MitchellSiri Mitchell, author of The Cubicle Next Door

It’s difficult. I’m a person governed by habit, so every time we move (which with the military is quite often), I have to make new routines for myself. I find in different seasons of life, God speaks to me in different ways and at different times. Some years, I’ve read through the One Year Bible. Other years, I’ve taken part in inductive women’s Bible studies or taught deductive studies. (view full interview)

Sheila Goss, author of My Invisible Husband

It is a daily walk and I find that I just have to make time. I make time for everything else and He’s been so good to me, that I communicate with Him throughout the day…whether I’m at my desk, in the car or at home. (view full interview)

Connecting with God | Dr. Annette West

Annette WestDr. Annette West, author of Living Words of Encouragement Volume 1

Connecting with God has become apart of my nature, I just find myself there. I wake up with Him on my mind and think about Him all through the day. I am always praying in my spirit, talking to the Lord and always feeding on His Word. I would say that a focus scripture for me would be “This book of the Law shall not depart out of your mouth, but you shall meditate on it day and night, that you may observe and do according to all that is written in it. For then you shall make your way prosperous and then you shall deal wisely and have good success.” (Joshua 1:8) (view full interview)

Sheila Lipsey, author of Into Each Life

I connect with God every day, all day, because the Holy Spirit abides in me. I connect with God through my writing, my daily interaction with family and friends, my thoughts and in the birds. Yes, I said birds. I love to listen to the birds singing early in the morning, especially on a fall day. I believe God sends them just for me because he knows how much I love them. In the early morning hours, God sends the birds to awaken me. I love watching blackbirds as they fill up my back yard. I think it’s totally awesome.

My youngest son has always said that he believes animals are heavenly beings. I agree with him. I am a pet lover and own two Siamese cats. I’ve always had a dog and/or a cat(s) because they exhibit God’s love like no other creature. They show unconditional love and through them I am reminded of God’s unconditional love for me. I also attend church regularly and I like to listen to Pastors Joel Osteen, Charles Stanley and Creflo Dollar. I subscribe to a daily message from Joel Osteen too. And of course, there’s the Word of God, the Bible that I read. (view full interview)

Right now my God-time is scattered throughout my day. Before I fall asleep, while nursing Abby, while driving–whenever my brain has the chance to disengage from baby-care. (view full interview)

Maurice Gray, author of All Things Work Together

My best times alone with God are when I’m driving or in the shower or other unconventional prayer times. It took me awhile to figure out that I don’t necessarily have to be on my knees at a set time to pray effectively. It’s great when that can happen, but I try to take advantage of opportunities like those I described as well. (view full interview)

Connecting with God | Tiffany Warren

I’ve missed posting these for a few weeks, but I have been collecting some good ones. I hope this bit of sharing helps someone in search of God or seeking to re-connect with God. Be blessed. –Ty

It can be hard when most of the time it seems like I hit the ground running everyday, but I make sure to listen to an inspirational word in the morning (Bishop T.D. Jakes or Pastor Paula White) and during the children’s naptime I just turn on my gospel music and reflect on the character of God. When I’m working on a novel I make an extra effort to read and study my Bible at least three times a week, because I want my writing to be in line with the Word of God. (view full interview)

Yolanda Tucker, author of Blessed Beyond Belief

I start each day connecting with God. When I open my eyes I thank God for life. I have an one hour and forty minute commute to work each way and I use a portion of that time to pray, praise and worship, and talk to God.(view full interview)
