Connecting with God | Mary E. DeMuth
This Week…
Mary E. DeMuth, author of Wishing on Dandelions
I spend time with God when I run in the mornings. Out in the hills of southern France, I sense His presence, hear His voice. I also am reading through the Bible in a year. I’ve been recently fascinated by the Book of Job, how wild and amazing God is. (read full interview)
A Woman’s Walk With God – Session 1
Our bible study group met this past week for our first bible study session, A Woman’s Walk with God by Elizabeth George. We had a wonderful first session! I wanted to point out a few key lessons from the book about the Fruit of the Spirit.
UNDERSTANDING THE FRUIT OF THE SPIRIT
“The fruit of the Spirit has been described as “those gracious habits which the Holy Spirit produces in the Christian. In Galatians 5:22-23, the apostle Paul lists these “gracious habits”: “The fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.” (p.11)”
“.. we must never forget that all nine fruit stand together… (p.11)”
To cultivate the fruit of the Spirit, we must abide in Christ. How?
1. Spend time in God’s Word
2. Spend time in prayer
3. Obey God’s commands
4. Renew our commitment to Christ

Connecting with God | Stacy Hawkins Adams
This week…
Stacy Hawkins Adams, author of Nothing But The Right Thing
I utter a brief prayer every morning before I get out of bed. My special quiet time comes later in the morning, usually while I’m in the shower or when I’m alone in the car driving to a particular destination. I’ll turn off the music and talk to God. Sometimes I’ll just listen, which is equally important. Recently, since I’ve decided to jumpstart my exercise routine, I’ve had my chats with God while I walk on the treadmill. (read full interview)

Psalms:34:1 is my favorite scripture, therefore, I practice praising God continuously. So, I always find time to connect with Him. I also have a prayer partner who is a 86 year old senior and she calls quite often for prayer. I pray quite a bit for one of the children under my care; she is one of the medically fragile children that I’m still caring for. (read full interview)
Connecting with God | Polly Boyette | Gail Martin
Polly Boyette, author of Life is a Buffet
My personal relationship with Jesus is the most important thing in my life. I feel like I have a running dialogue with him throughout the day. However, I do try to find quiet time to meditate on particular scriptures or to connect with God one on one, usually just before bedtime, when it’s quiet in the house. I also attend worship services at Wave Church in Virginia Beach on a regular basis a couple times a week, sometimes more. It is so important to connect with other Christians in corporate worship. It’s fuel for my faith tank. (read interview)
Gail Martin, author of In His Eyes
The Lord and I are connected at all times. I pray throughout the day. My writing leads me to God’s Word as well a the devotionals and the Bible. I’ve never felt unconnected even in stressful times of my life which we had for the past year since my stepdaughter Brenda, 37, was diagnosed with stage 4 ovarian cancer. We call on him so often for comfort, strength, and mercy. (read interview)
Connecting with God | Stacy Stallings
This Week…
Staci Stallings, author of Cowboy and Lucky
For me, there is really no time that I’m not connected with God. He and I have pretty much a full-time, running relationship. I think this is part of my love of learning in that there is a part of me which looks for God in everything. My kids even search for birds (my physical sign of the Holy Spirit’s presence) on our way to school every morning. In the concrete world, I read a lot (The Message Bible and many other great “God is with us” books) and I listen to music, sermons, or lectures on CD all the time.
God is the friend I talk with most, the One I go to for advice, and the One Who makes sense of what sometimes seems like the chaos of my life. (read interview)
